Hello,
My name is Jons Hofman, I’m born on 24th of June 1978 in Amsterdam and playing under the dj alias Ions. I’ve been around in the local underground party scene for quite a long time now, started when I was 16 years old. For 7 years I helped with locally underground trance-organization Empathy to set up medium to large events in a famous venue, de Melkweg.
Although I was in the party scene for a long time already the dj virus didn’t get to me until begin 2002, when I decided to fill in some gaps in chill out lineups on our parties. My sets back then didn’t really involved any technique as i just faded some good tracks together. Still the response was already good and motivating enough continue.
In 2003 i finally got my own cd-players pioneer 3000, which i still have today. This was also the time i started to experiment with more dance-able tunes.
What to expect from my dj-sets?
Well, basically the right music for the time and place when- or where ever this may be. As I really like all sorts of electronic music I can play anything from dubby chill out, tech/progressive trance or full-on. Early in the nineties the Hofman brothers started collecting underground trance music. Unlike Nilis, Jons’ DJ-ing aspirations didn’t kick in during the nineties. Later in this decade he grew into helping set up parties with the Empathy crew amongst other events. Finally, in 2002, he started to enjoy himself behind the decks in chill-outs and invented the alias Ions.
Nowadays I also aims for trancefloors with progressive tunes or some old-style underground trance. I made some mixed available for download on http://ions.goddeloos.nl/ I hope you will enjoy them.
